As a Telluride attorney that focuses on criminal defense and civil litigation, Jon is dedicated to helping the people of San Miguel, and Ouray counties. An experienced and skilled trial attorney, Jon has successfully tried 59 jury trials to verdict. Despite being at home in the courtroom, Jon prides himself on his willingness to sit down with his clients and really listen. He is also willing to provide meaningful feedback to his clients on how to best present themselves and their side of the story. Jon’s background in psychology helps him to effectively and persuasively frame information when presenting it to judges, juries and district attorneys for the benefit of his clients. He understands and recognizes that the truth most often lies somewhere in the middle and a case is never as straightforward as it appears when reading a police report or a motion to modify. A successful defense starts with learning about the client and making sure that his or her voice is heard as the case progresses.

Attorney Jon R. Fee is licensed to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the State of Maryland. While studying at the University of Colorado Law School, he interned for Colorado judges at both the county and district court levels and volunteered for a year at the Adams County District Attorney’s Office. Before starting his firm in Telluride, Jon worked for a combined four years as a deputy district attorney in Adams County and Larimer County. These experiences gave Jon invaluable insight into how the Colorado criminal justice system works, how it should work and how it can break down.

In between his time serving as a prosecutor, Jon helped to start a successful Broomfield firm that focuses on both criminal defense and civil litigation (formerly Datz & Fee, LLC – now the Datz Law Firm). In addition, Jon traveled with his family to Baltimore, Maryland where he had the opportunity to work for a premier civil defense firm doing work on national products liability cases. For Jon, the draw of Colorado was too strong, and he returned to Colorado shortly after his time in Baltimore. Jon feels blessed to have the opportunity to serve the people of Telluride with their criminal defense and civil litigation needs.

In his spare time, Jon spends his free time with his wife, Sarah, and two boys, Henry & Finley. When not with his family, Jon enjoys ice hockey, fishing, bow hunting, biking and running. Jon fully appreciates that Telluride and the areas around it are not only the best parts of Colorado, but the best parts of the country. In exchange for that gift, Jon wants to do everything he can to ensure that those around him continue to enjoy the wonderful life that exists here. Jon is here to help, day or night – call or fill out the box below to request a free initial consultation as soon as possible.
